Sioux Falls, S.D. – The Oral Roberts baseball team put on a hitting clinic as they outscored the Jackrabbits in Sioux Falls with a combined score of 29-9.
Game 1: In the opening game, ORU's jumped to an early 4-0 lead after
Alex Rodgers,
Holden Breeze, and
Drew Stahl collected RBI's in the first two frames, but after Stahl knocked a homer of his own in the fourth, the Golden Eagles never looked back
ORU went on a 12-0 run to finish the game as five different players would register an RBI during that stretch to close out the game.
Meanwhile on the mound, Jakob Hall avenged his only Summit League loss of the season by spotting the Golden Eagles seven innings of work with eight strikeouts while Conner Floyd tossed two shutout innings to close out the win.
Game 2: In the following game, ORU and SDSU exchanged runs in the opening frame before the Golden Eagles quickly separated themselves over the next innings. Tulsa's team dropped six runs on the Jackrabbits with
Cameron LaLiberte and
Kyle Booker combining for four of those.
South Dakota State responded with three homers in the fourth, but that proved to be futile as five different Golden Eagles drove in eight unanswered runs over the next four frames.
On the bump, Jared Ure was tabbed with saving the bullpen for a potential game three, and the righty from Colorado would deliver for his squad, tossing four scoreless frames to pick up his second save of the season.
