TULSA, Okla. – The Golden Eagles are set to host the ORU Volleyball Classic at the Mabee Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma from Friday, September 6th to Saturday, September 7th. ORU has two games scheduled on Friday , hosting Sam Houston at 2:00 p.m. and Bethune-Cookman at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, the Golden Eagles conclude the tournament, facing-off against the Tulsa Hurricane at 1:30 p.m.

Opening Serve

• Trinity Freeman achieved a massive milestone last weekend, recording her 1,000^th kill in the Golden Eagles matchup against Southern Illinois on Sunday. Freeman is just the 10th player in ORU volleyball history to reach the 1,000 kill mark.
• Freeman led the Golden Eagles in kills in all three matches at the Betty Austin Invitational, recording 16, 16 and 13 kills (45 total) in each match. Among the Summit League, she currently ranks third in kills per set (3.75) and fourth in points per set (3.83).
• Freshman Rachel Resta made an instant impact on the Golden Eagles offensive attack last weekend tallying 24, 32 and 27 assists over a three-game span, leading ORU in assists in all three games.
• Sophomore Alaina Larson continues to make a big impact on the back row for the Golden Eagles as the defensive specialist/libero ranks third in service aces per set within the Summit League (0.58).
• The ORU volleyball program is currently seven wins away from 1,000 wins as a program.

 
Inside the Matchup: Sam Houston

• Friday's match marks the 15th meeting with Sam Houston all-time (6-8). 
• Sam Houston went 1-2 in the Bearkat Invitational last weekend, sweeping Prairie View and losing to Incarnate Word and Stephen F. Austin.

 
Inside the Matchup: Bethune-Cookman

• ORU has never played Bethune-Cookman.
• The Wildcats went 1-2 last weekend at the Bash at the Beach in Daytona, Florida. They defeated Manhattan College 3-1 but fell to Portland and Stetson 2-3 and 2-3, respectively.

 
Inside the Matchup: Tulsa

• Saturdays match marks the 88^th meeting between the Golden Eagles and Hurricane, with ORU leading the series 59-28.
• The Hurricane went 2-1 this past weekend at the Baylor Classic facing off against Campbell and Abilene Christian, sweeping both matches. In their second game, the Hurricane were swept by #23 Baylor.
