TULSA, Okla. – The Oral Roberts University (ORU) Athletic Department has named Nolan Albrecht the 13th Head Coach of the ORU volleyball program, as announced on Thursday afternoon by Athletic Director Tim Johnson.

ORU President, Dr. William M. Wilson, expressed his excitement about this new chapter stating, "With great enthusiasm, we welcome Nolan Albrecht as the head coach of our volleyball program. His unwavering commitment to excellence, both on and off the court, aligns perfectly with our mission at Oral Roberts University. We are confident that under his leadership, our athletes will not only achieve remarkable success but also grow in character and faith. This is a new era for ORU volleyball, and we are excited for the journey ahead."

Albrecht comes to ORU after joining the Liberty University coaching staff in March of 2024. He was promoted from Assistant Coach to Acting Head Coach in May of 2024 and led the Lady Flames to a Conference USA Tournament berth. Before coaching at Liberty, Albrecht earned a coach and scout role for the USA Volleyball Development Program. He was tasked with recruiting and evaluating the best youth volleyball in the United States while coaching a series of training programs for the Junior National Boys Indoor and Beach Volleyball programs.

"We are thrilled to welcome Nolan Albrecht to the Golden Eagle family as the new head coach of our volleyball program, said Athletic Director Tim Johnson. "His experience as a head coach, professional player, and involvement with USA Volleyball will create an atmosphere where student-athletes can compete, develop, and thrive at the highest levels of competition. Under the leadership of Coach Albrecht, I am confident the volleyball program will achieve new heights in the Summit League as we compete for championships while also developing young women in mind, body and spirit. We're excited to have him join our team!"

This past season at Liberty, Albrecht played a large role in the development and coaching of Kate Gammer, who earned Conference USA First Team honors and Madison Blaine, who was named to the Conference USA Second Team.

Before joining the Lady Flames, Albrecht served as the men's volleyball coach at his alma mater, Belmont Abbey, from 2017 to 2021. He led the Crusaders to a 51-45 overall record and is tied for the program record in career coaching victories at Belmont Abbey.

Albrecht coached three league awards winners at Belmont Abbey in Rob Valentine (Defensive Player of the Year in 2018), Andrew Kohut (Freshman of the Year in 2019) and Liam Maxwell (Co-Offensive Player of the Year in 2020). A total of 13 players have been selected all-conference under his leadership.

"I'm thrilled to join the Golden Eagle volleyball family, and I want to express my gratitude to Dr. Wilson and Tim Johnson for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to lead this program. I'm thankful to God for opening this door and allowing me to serve and mentor the talented young women who will build this team. My family and I are excited to be part of the ORU community and we're impressed by the university's commitment to providing the resources needed to compete at the highest level. Our goal is to build a championship-caliber program that honors God and makes the Golden Eagle community proud. I'm looking forward to working with Tim Johnson and the entire athletic department to make that vision a reality."

Head Coach Nolan Albrecht will bring his sister, Annika (Albrecht) Moulder, one of the best collegiate players in NCAA history, aboard the ORU coaching staff as an Assistant Coach. During her storied playing career at Nebraska, Annika was an All-American outside hitter, team captain and led the Huskers to two national titles. After her collegiate career, Annika played one year of professional volleyball for Volleyball Nantes in France. She jumpstarted her coaching career in 2022, earning an Assistant Coach role for the University of Montana.

During his own playing career for Belmont Abbey, Albrecht was a four-year captain and led the nation in kills (523), kills per set (5.03) and points per set (5.56), hitting .350 during his senior season. Albrecht was named the AVCA National Player of the Week and finished third in voting for the "Karch Kiraly Award" awarded to the nation's best Outside Hitter.

From 2021 to 2024, Albrecht played AVP Volleyball, qualifying for four AVP Beach Pro Tour Main Draws, finishing in the top ten three times. He also reached the #1 ranking in the AVP Grass Volleyball Tour.
