ST. PAUL, Minn. – Junior wing Ronardo Burgher recorded his first goal as a Golden Eagle on Saturday afternoon as the Oral Roberts men's soccer team fell 2-1 to St. Thomas in its Summit League opener.

With the loss, the Golden Eagles move to 2-7-1 overall and 0-1-0 in league play.

ORU got an early start as Burgher capitalized on a slip-up by the Tommies' goalkeeper, scoring in the seventh minute. The Golden Eagles held the lead until UST evened the score 20 minutes later. With just over two minutes remaining in the first half, the Tommies added their second– and game-winning– goal.

·       Jakub Grzesiak started in goal for the Golden Eagles, recording one save while allowing two goals. Joao Mesquita entered at the half and recorded one save.

·       ORU held the edge in shots (11-6), shots on goal (6-4), and corner kicks (7-3).

·       Four Golden Eagles– Burgher, Emilio Cazares, Juan Moreno, and Hagen Waesch– recorded two shots apiece, with Waesch leading the team with two shots on goal.

·       Nine players came off the bench for ORU, with four logging more than 30 minutes of play. Three Golden Eagles played the full 90 minutes.
