WICHITA, Kan. – Sophomore guard Anna Trusty led the Golden Eagles with 23 points as Oral Roberts women's basketball fell 79-65 at Wichita State on Tuesday.
The Golden Eagles had two players score in double figures, led by Trusty's 23 points on 8-of-18 shooting from the floor and 4-of-8 from three-point range. Jalei Oglesby added 15 points and six rebounds, while Gentry Baldwin and Preslee Hartsock chipped in seven points apiece.
Led by Oglesby's three offensive rebounds, Oral Roberts did well off the offensive glass, pulling down 13 offensive boards that resulted in 11 second-chance points.
The Oral Roberts defense forced its share of mistakes, causing 18 Wichita State turnovers while committing 13. Those takeaways turned into 21 points on the other end of the floor.
After falling behind 7-4, Oral Roberts went on a 9-0 run with 5:57 left in the first quarter, capped by a three-pointer from Hartsock, to take a 13-7 lead. Wichita State cut into the deficit, but the Golden Eagles entered the first-quarter break with a 16-14 advantage. ORU capitalized on five Wichita State turnovers in the period, converting them into nine points.
ORU maintained its lead early in the second quarter before using a 6-0 run starting at the 7:41 mark, highlighted by a three from Trusty, to extend its advantage to 27-19. The Golden Eagles added to the margin and carried a 42-33 lead into halftime. ORU was strong from beyond the arc in the period, knocking down four three-pointers to account for 12 of its 26 points.
The Shockers opened the second half with momentum, outscoring ORU 24-13 in the third quarter to take a two-point lead heading into the final period. ORU was effective in the paint during the quarter, scoring 10 of its 13 points inside. The Golden Eagles were unable to regain the lead in the fourth quarter, ultimately falling 79-65.

Oral Roberts: Trusty led the Golden Eagles with 23 points, while Oglesby pulled down a team-high six rebounds.
Wichita State: Abby Cater scored a game-high 24 points on 11-of-12 shooting, while Jaida McDonald grabbed a game-best eight rebounds.
