#ORUWBB Wraps Up Non-Conference with Win Over OKWU; Four Golden Eagles Score in Double Figures

TULSA, Okla. – Powered by four players scoring in double figures, the Oral Roberts women's basketball team wrapped up its non-conference slate with an 86-51 win over Oklahoma Wesleyan on Monday, December 29.
 
The Golden Eagles were led by Jalei Oglesby, who recorded a double-double with 25 points and 15 rebounds, while Anna Trusty added 23 points. Azailah Funches and Ari Gordon also chipped in 10 points apiece.
 
Oral Roberts took advantage of excellent ball movement, piling up 18 assists on 29 made field goals. Gordon led the team with six assists, while Gentry Baldwin added five of her own.
 
Defensively, Oral Roberts forced 16 Oklahoma Wesleyan turnovers while committing just 12 of its own. The Golden Eagles converted those takeaways into 15 points, with Funches leading the way individually with three steals.
 
After an early 8-8 tie, Oral Roberts went on a 10-0 run with 5:04 remaining in the first quarter to take an 18-8 lead. OKWU responded, cutting into the margin, but ORU still carried an 18-14 advantage into the quarter break. The Golden Eagles did most of their damage in the paint, scoring 14 of their 18 first-quarter points near the basket.
 
ORU maintained its lead in the second quarter before going on a 7-0 run beginning at the 2:00 mark to extend the advantage to 41-33, which held at halftime. Oral Roberts received nine points off the bench in the period, accounting for nearly half of its 23 second-quarter points.
 
The Golden Eagles wasted no time building on their lead in the third quarter, rattling off a 19-0 run, punctuated by a basket from Gordon, to extend the margin to 60-33 with 2:42 remaining. OKWU trimmed the deficit late, but ORU still entered the fourth quarter with a commanding 64-38 lead. Oral Roberts held the Eagles to just 2-of-12 shooting in the period, limiting them to five points.
 
Oral Roberts continued to add to its lead early in the fourth quarter, pushing the margin to 69-38 with 7:24 remaining. The Golden Eagles cruised the rest of the way to secure the 86-51 victory, once again getting a boost from the bench, which contributed nine of the team's 22 points in the final period.
 
The Leaders
Oral Roberts: Jalei Oglesby posted her second double-double of the season with 25 points and 15 rebounds. Ari Gordon added a team-best six assists and four blocks.
Oklahoma Wesleyan: Gracie Alexander led the Eagles with 13 points, while Jaclyn Lara and Khamille Warr pulled down five rebounds apiece.
