Cris Gonzalez scored his first goal as a Golden Eagle as the Oral Roberts men's soccer team came to a 1-1 draw against Massachusetts Saturday evening.
The Golden Eagles are now 2-4-4 overall and 0-1-1 in Summit League play. ORU will hit the road to take on Missouri State Wednesday, October 7 at 7 p.m.
UMass opened scoring in the first half, netting an unassisted goal in the 19th minute. The Minutemen fought, putting up six shots with three on goal in the first 45 minutes while ORU recorded four shots with just one on goal.
The action was not slow to start after the halftime break, as Parma recorded two saves in the first ten minutes.
The Golden Eagles leveled the score in the 59th minute when
Lazarus Ocira sent a cross to
Emre Aydin, who fired back-to-back shots that struck the post and crossbar. Gonzalez then gained control of the rebound and slipped the equalizing shot past a UMass defender and the goalkeeper.
