#ORUWBB Has Three in Double-Figure Scoring Against South Dakota

TULSA, Oklahoma – Despite a third-quarter comeback, the Oral Roberts women's basketball team fell to South Dakota, 74-69, on Saturday afternoon. With the result, the Golden Eagles moved to 5-5 in Summit League play and 12-11 overall.
 

Kayten Donley led the Golden Eagles with 16 points, shooting 6-of-12 from the field and 2-of-4 from three-point range while going 2-of-2 at the free throw line. Jalei Oglesby followed with 13 points, while Gentry Baldwin added 11.

The Oral Roberts offense was productive from beyond the arc, knocking down nine three-pointers on 21 attempts. Donley led the way with two makes from deep. ORU's defense held South Dakota to just 18.8 percent shooting from three-point range. The Coyotes also struggled on the offensive glass, finishing with nine offensive rebounds and 11 second-chance points.

Anna Trusty led the team in rebounding with seven boards, followed by Oglesby with five. Donley recorded two steals, while Baldwin, Donley, and Trusty each dished out two assists.

After falling behind 10-5, ORU went on a 6-0 run with 3:13 left in the first quarter, capped by a bucket from Donley, to take an 11-10 lead. South Dakota responded and entered the second quarter ahead, 18-16. The Coyotes extended their advantage in the second quarter, sending ORU into halftime trailing 37-25.

Coming out of the break, the Golden Eagles cut the deficit to 41-32 before rattling off an 11-0 run, punctuated by a three-pointer from Bella Edwards, to take a 43-41 lead with 4:11 remaining in the third quarter. South Dakota answered to regain momentum and carried a 56-50 lead into the fourth.

ORU opened the final quarter with a 5-0 run, finished by Anna Trusty's three-pointer, to pull within one at 58-57 with 7:11 remaining. The Coyotes responded down the stretch and held on for the 74-69 victory.

The Leaders

Oral Roberts: Kayten Donley scored a team-high 16 points, while Anna Trusty grabbed a team-best seven rebounds.

South Dakota: Angelina Robles led the Coyotes with 28 points. Patience Williams posted a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds, and Elise Turrubiates pulled down a game-high 14 rebounds.
