SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Oral Roberts women's basketball team came up short in an 81-54 loss to the St. Thomas Tommies at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center on Friday.
 
The Golden Eagles had three players score in double figures, led by Jalei Oglesby, who had 18 points and two steals. Preslee Hartsock added 10 points off the bench while Gentry Baldwin recorded 10 points and two steals.
 
ORU disrupted the Tommie offense in the contest, coming away with five blocks. Kayten Donley's four rejections led the way individually for the Golden Eagles.
 
Oral Roberts struggled out of the gate, falling behind 18-8 at the end of the first quarter.
 
The Golden Eagles continued to lose ground in the second quarter and faced a 44-19 halftime deficit.
After intermission, Oral Roberts cut its deficit to 52-28 before going on a 5-0 run, punctuated by a basket from Hartsock, to trim its deficit to 52-33 with 3:02 to go in the third.
 
St. Thomas countered and stretched its lead to 59-36 heading into the fourth. Oral Roberts' bench made the most of its minutes in the period, as non-starters totaled nine of the team's 17 third-quarter points.
 
The Tommies kept widening their lead in the fourth, constructing a 61-36 advantage before Oral Roberts went on a 6-0 run, finished off by Ari Gordon's layup, to shrink the deficit to 61-42 with 8:06 to play.
 
St. Thomas outscored the Golden Eagles the rest of the way to pick up the 81-54. ORU took advantage of six St. Thomas turnovers in the quarter, scoring nine points off those takeaways.
 
The Leaders

Oral Roberts:  Jalei Oglesby scored 18 points on 7-for-17 shooting from the field. Oglesby was a perfect 4-4 from the free-throw line and grabbed two steals.

St. Thomas: Mikayla Werner scored 21 points on 9-for-10 shooting to go along with nine boards. Alyssa Sand tallied a double-double with 17 points and 10 boards. Five Tommies finished in double figures.
