TULSA, Oklahoma – The Oral Roberts baseball team defeated Northern Colorado 3-1 in game one of the three-game series on Thursday evening.
The Golden Eagles opened the scoring in the first, as
Makani Tanaka, who reached on a single and advanced to third on a
Hudson Ellis single, was driven in on a sacrifice fly by
Will Edmunson.
UNC added its only run of the day in the top of the third, scoring on a groundout.
Oral Roberts regained the advantage in the bottom of the sixth as
Hudson Ellis scored on the throw following a dropped third strike. The Golden Eagles added an insurance run in the bottom of the seventh when
Austin Nicholson singled, moved to second on a
Keaton Campbell sacrifice bunt, and scored on a Tanaka single.
Easton Teel (2-1) started on the mound and picked up the win for ORU. The right-hander went seven innings, allowing one run on four hits with two walks and four strikeouts.
Jack Hill entered in relief and threw two scoreless innings, allowing no hits while striking out three.
