TULSA, Okla. – Oral Roberts women's soccer alum, Julia Thasaphong has signed a professional contract with Grindavik/Njarovik in Iceland, continuing her playing career at the professional level.
For Thasaphong, signing her first professional contract marks the culmination of years of dedication and hard work while opening the door to the next chapter of her soccer career.
"Playing at a professional level is something I've always wanted to do and I'm incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported me along the way," said Thasaphong. " My time at Oral Roberts University gave me the confidence, support, and opportunity to grow, both as a player and as a person. I was surrounded by coaches and teammates who challenged me to improve every day. I'll always be thankful for the opportunity that ORU gave me, and I'm excited for what's ahead in my professional career."
Thasaphong left Oral Roberts as one of the most decorated players in program history after an exceptional four-year career with the Golden Eagles. She appeared in 83 career matches, making 70 starts while totaling 20 goals and 15 assists. A two-time All-Summit League First Team selection, Thasaphong earned Summit League Offensive Player of the Year honors in 2025 after leading one of the conference's top offensive attacks.
During her senior campaign, Thasaphong started 18 of 20 matches and recorded career highs with six goals, six assists and 18 points. She placed 17 of her 31 shots on goal and netted one game-winning goal while helping guide the Golden Eagles to the Summit League regular season title.
Thasaphong becomes the latest Golden Eagle to advance to the professional ranks under Head Coach Austin Risenhoover, further highlighting the program's continued development of professional-caliber talent.
