TULSA, Okla. – The Oral Roberts women's soccer program's unbeaten start to the season came to a close Sunday night, as #17 Baylor edged the Golden Eagles, 2-1, at Case Soccer Complex. The loss drops the Golden Eagles to 6-1-2, while Baylor improves to 7-1-0. The result also closes out Oral Roberts' non-conference slate for the year.
Baylor controlled much of the run of play in the first half, out-shooting ORU 11-5, and broke through in the 41st minute when Grace White buried her fourth goal of the season off an assist from Olivia Hess to give the Bears a 1-0 halftime lead.
Oral Roberts came out with more urgency after the break and found an equalizer in the 79th minute, as Brianna Castleberry scored her eighth goal of the season, on a free kick, to level the match at 1-1. The tie was short-lived, however, as Baylor responded just 81 seconds later as Aryanna Jimison converted a feed from Callie Conrad and Sydney Miller in the 81st minute to put the Bears back in front for good.
Alyson Sebban made seven saves in the loss, while Baylor's Azul Alvarez turned away five to secure the win. Oral Roberts held a slim shot advantage in the second half (5-3) but couldn't find a second equalizer down the stretch.
