Scoot Hood joins the Oral Roberts University Baseball coaching staff in the fall of 2024 as an Assistant Coach, a native of Tulsa and a Union High School graduate (2002-2006), Hood brings over a decade of experience at both the collegiate and scouting levels.

Hood began his collegiate playing career at Allen County Community College (2006-2008) as an infielder and outfielder before transferring to South Dakota State University (2008-2010), where he continued to shine on the field, graduating in 2011.

His coaching journey started in 2010 when he became an assistant coach at South Dakota State University, focusing on hitters and outfielders. Hood furthered his career by serving as an assistant coach at the University of Kansas from 2012 to 2020, specializing in the same areas. From 2020 to 2024, Hood stepped into a new role as the Oklahoma Scouting Director for Prep Baseball Report, where he honed his skills in talent evaluation and developed deep connections in the region.

At ORU Baseball, Hood brings with him a wealth of knowledge and a deep connection to the program. "Having grown up just seven miles away from ORU, I understand the history and commitment to baseball that this place has," Hood shared. "I will rely on my 10 years of coaching experience and the relationships I’ve built in the region during my time in scouting to help elevate this program even further."

Hood has always dreamed of being a part of ORU Baseball, and now that dream is a reality. "The chance to work with one of the best staffs in the country was too hard to pass up. The attention to detail and development atmosphere really make this program special," said Hood. "Being at a place with high expectations every single year is exciting, and I look forward to playing my part in helping the program achieve even more."
