Tyler Shipley joins the Oral Roberts after spending the 2019 season as the Volunteer Assistant Coach at the University of Dayton (OH) where his primary focus was working with the pitching staff.
The Dayton pitching staff set a program record for strikeouts in a season during the 2019 season with 491 punchouts under Shipley's tutelage. Shipley also dropped the team's ERA by 1.65 runs from the 2018 to 2019 seasons.
Prior to Dayton Shipley served as the Pitching Coach at Wheaton College (IL) during the 2018 season and also served as the Graduate Assistant Pitching Coach at Concordia-University Chicago from 2016-2017, where he helped lead the Cougars to two conference championships and a pair of NCAA Division III Regional appearances, and a NCAA Division III World Series Appearance.
Before his time working with Concordia, he served as the pitching, as well as strength and conditioning coach at Ecclesia College, during which he guided the pitching staff to multiple school records in route to a NCCAA Regional appearance. Shipley has also coached with USA Baseball serving as the Head Coach for the 16 and under Midwest Region team during the National Team Identification Series Champions Cup.
Shipley has also worked with the Rawlings Arkansas Prospects and Cangelosi Sparks travel organizations, as well as serving as an instructor at Bo Jackson Elite Sports in the Chicago area. During that time he coached 65 players that went on to play collegiate and/ or professional baseball.
He graduated from Drury University, where he also played on the baseball team, with a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science and Sports Management and later earned his Master's Degree in Leadership in Sport at Concordia University-Chicago.
