Eric Norton, MS, LAT, ATC, joined the ORU staff as an assistant athletic trainer in January 2021 and works primarily with the Golden Eagles baseball program. He spent the summer of 2021 as the athletic trainer for the Chatham Anglers of the Cape Cod Baseball League.

Before coming to ORU, Norton an athletic trainer for LSU's track & field and cross country teams starting in June 2020. For the Tigers, he had full autonomy with evaluation and rehabilitation and return to play of student-athletes and also supervised athletic training students as a preceptor. Norton also covered home LSU football games and assisted with coverage of football's summer training and fall camp practices.

While working on his master's degree at the University of Texas Permian Basin from 2018-20, Norton spent time at an outreach clinical site through Phytex Rehabilitation & Sports Medicine Associates. There, he developed and administered shoulder strengthening programs, assisted in dynamic warm-ups and rehabilitated chronic upper extremity pathologies with the Falcons baseball team. Norton spent time aiding the men's soccer team in muscle recovery of student-athletes and rehab of acute lower extremity soft tissue injuries. He also served as a clinical preceptor for the athletic training student program.

Norton holds certifications from the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer, American Red Cross (CPR, AED, First-Aid) and Mental Health First Aid.

He graduated from Otterbein University in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training, while also playing four years of varsity baseball and landed on the Dean's List. Norton added a Master of Science degree in Kinesiology from UTPB in May 2020 and was honored with the Lone Star Conference Athletic Training Student Award in 2018-19.
