Altamirano earned Summit League Pitcher of the Year honors after going 8-2 during the season and a team best 2.94 ERA … He led ORU with 81 strikeouts and walked just 14 in 85.2 innings pitched during the season … He was named First Team All-Summit League with a league best six wins and 61 strikeouts during conference play … On March 16 he was named Summit League Pitcher of the Week and Louisville Slugger Pitcher of the Week after a season high 14 strikeouts and no walks in a seven inning win over North Dakota State… His 5.79 strikeout-to-walk ratio ranked in the top 25 in the nation … He threw seven innings of one-hit baseball against Dallas Baptist on March 8 with seven strikeouts to earn a no-decision … He earned his first shutout on May 15 against Western Illinois throwing six innings and allowing just six hits and no walks with four strikeouts … He tallied nine strikeouts at IPFW on May 8 allowing one run in 6.1 innings.

PRIOR TO ORU
Pitched two seasons under head coach Todd Inglehart at Cochise College in Douglas, Ariz…. Started 17 games and made six relief appearances during sophomore season… Went 8-8 and added two saves in 2014… Recorded 74 strikeouts and posted a 3.95 earned run average in 109.1 innings of work as a sophomore… Pitched four complete games in 2014… Led the Apaches to a Western District title and the NJCAA Division I World Series appearance in 2014… Threw 49.1 innings in 14 appearances in his freshman campaign… Finished 2013 with a 3-2 record, two saves and two complete games… Team finished third in the 2013 NJCAA Division I World Series and won the Western District Championship.

HIGH SCHOOL
Played varsity baseball at Douglas HS for head coach Gilbert Rojas… Holds school records for strikeouts in a game (19) and innings pitched (10.2)… Recorded three no-hitters during his high school career… Was named the team MVP… A two-sport standout, won the basketball team MVP award three times.

PERSONAL
Son of Guillermo and Teresa Altamirano… Majoring in psychology… Favorite pro athlete is Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw.
