Marc Stricker joined the ORU men's basketball program as an assistant coach in June 2016 after three years on staff at Eastern Illinois. He currently serves on the NCAA Executive Assistant Coaches Committee, a position he has held since 2013.
While on staff at EIU, the Panthers won 18 games in 2014-15, securing just the second winning season since 2001 and cracked the Mid-Major Top 25 poll. They went 6-0 against the OVC West Division for the first time ever and had a nine-game winning streak that was the longest in school history and fifth longest in the nation at the time. The memorable season was capped with a win over Oakland in the CIT, the school's first ever postseason win.
Familiar with the Summit League, Stricker played basketball at UMKC, earning his bachelor’s degree in business administration in 2002, and his master's degree in higher education administration in 2005 from there.
Stricker brings more than 10 years of coaching experience, having begun his career at his alma mater. He also coached two seasons at Maryville University, helping the Saints to 23 wins and a runner-up finish in the Great Lakes Valley Conference West Division. While on staff, Maryville beat No. 4 Bellarmine for the school’s first win over a nationally-ranked opponent.
Prior to his time at Maryville, Stricker served one season as head coach of the St. Louis Pioneers of the ABA. His team finished the season ranked No. 16 in the ABA Power Rankings and qualified for the playoffs after posting a 13-3 record with eight straight wins to close out the season.
Stricker and his wife, Christine, have two children, Savannah and Kelley.
