Will Saxon is entering his first season as an Assistant Coach at ORU.
Saxon has spent the last four seasons in Las Vegas, Nevada, with the UNLV men's basketball program. Originally hired as the program's recruiting and video coordinator, Saxon was elevated to assistant coach in 2023. During his tenure, UNLV has improved its win total each season—from 18 wins in 2021–22 to 21 this past season, the program's highest mark since 2013–14. The Runnin' Rebels also made their first postseason appearance since 2012–13 and notched their first postseason win since 2007–08. The team advanced to the quarterfinals of the National Invitation Tournament (NIT), defeating Princeton on the road and Boston College at home before falling to eventual champion Seton Hall.
Saxon's responsibilities at UNLV included leading practice drills—particularly with post players—spearheading scouting duties and managing both high school and transfer recruiting across key regions such as Southern California, Las Vegas, Oklahoma, and JUCO Region V. His expertise in video analysis and data-driven recruiting has been essential to the team's preparation and player evaluation.
Prior to joining UNLV, Saxon spent eight years at the University of Oklahoma under Hall of Fame coach Lon Kruger. He served in various capacities, progressing from student manager to video coordinator. During his time with the Sooners, Oklahoma made six NCAA Tournament appearances, advancing to the Sweet 16 in 2015 and the Final Four in 2016. Saxon worked alongside elite talent, including NBA stars Buddy Hield, Trae Young, and Austin Reaves.
A native of Norman, Oklahoma, Saxon holds a bachelor's degree in public relations (2015) and a master's in adult and higher education with a concentration in intercollegiate athletics administration (2018), both from the University of Oklahoma.
