Marcus Dawal Jr joined the Oral Roberts Athletic Communications department in February of 2024 as the Director of Athletic Communications. Dawal Jr, who is a member of the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, serves as the primary media contact for baseball, men's soccer, and cross country.
Prior to joining ORU, Dawal served as the Assistant Athletic Director of Strategic Communications at Hawai'i Pacific University were he oversaw the media relations of all 15 programs.
In addition to his experience at HPU, he served as a Broadcast Intern with the Oakland Athletics during their 2023 season. Worked a sports information graduate assistant at Concordia University Irvine from August 2022 to March 2023. Served as an intern during Orange County Soccer Club's 2021 USL Championship winning season. Also worked as a Social Media/Marketing Intern for Lecrae's Reach Records during their 2020 Grammy-nominated Restoration album.
A native of Brentwood, California, Dawal Jr obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from Azusa Pacific University in 2022 where he was an All-PacWest 800m runner for their track program. In February of 2024, he completed his Master's in Coaching and Athletic Administration degree from Concordia University Irvine.
