Wayne Anderson joined the Golden Eagles in 2022, spending three seasons as the program's director of basketball operations before being promoted to assistant coach in 2025.

Anderson has been on staff for one of the strongest stretches in recent program history. After a 12-19 finish in 2022-23, ORU won 21 games and reached the WNIT in 2023-24 — the program's first 20-win season since 2011-12 and its first postseason appearance since 2015 — then followed with a 24-9 campaign in 2024-25, a second-place finish in the Summit League, a WBIT berth and the highest win total the program has posted since 1983. The Golden Eagles went 15-15 in 2025-26 and reached the quarterfinals of the Summit League Championship.

Player development is central to Anderson's role with the Golden Eagles. He runs individual workouts throughout the year and directs offseason skill development, drawing on the individual-skills background he built earlier in his career. He is also one of three staff members who prepare ORU's scouting reports.

Anderson brought eight years of collegiate coaching experience to Tulsa. He spent five seasons as an assistant at Southwestern Oklahoma State from 2008 to 2013 and three seasons at Central Oklahoma from 2005 to 2008. Before coming to ORU, Anderson founded and directed 3T Training LLC, a skill development program built around improving individual basketball skills.

A native of Tulsa, Anderson was a two-year starter at Northern Oklahoma College-Enid before moving into coaching. He earned his bachelor's degree in general studies from Central Oklahoma in 2007 and his master's in education from Central Oklahoma in 2008.

Anderson is married to ORU head coach Cophie Anderson. The couple has three children: Cameron, Carringtyn and Creed.
