Moneshia McKenney

Moneshia McKenney joined the volleyball staff at Oral Roberts University in June 2020 as an assistant coach. With the Golden Eagles, she will serve as the recruiting coordinator and oversee the pin hitters, while coordinating all aspects of volleyball operations.

Prior to ORU, she started as an assistant coach at East Carolina in March 2018 before transitioning into the role of interim head coach on March 26, 2020. While interim head coach, McKenney improved semester grades for the team from a 2.5 GPA to 3.32.

During her time at ECU, McKenney worked with the pins helping elevate their court gameplay. She helped the Pirates generate the best start in program history (12-1) ending the 2019 season with a 19-11 overall record, securing only the ninth winning season in program history. She was instrumental in the success of hitters Bri Wood (All-American Athletic Conference Second Team), Sydney Kleinman (ranked sixth in the AAC in points per set at 3.81) and Natalie Tyson (third on the squad in kills and kills per set).

She arrived in Tulsa having gained experience at all levels of the game having played professionally in Sweden following a decorated collegiate career at Clemson. During the 2015-16 Swedish League season, McKenney was named the top outside hitter as well as the second-best hitter in the circuit. As a result, she was selected to the Swedish League All-Star Team. McKenney got her first taste of international volleyball in 2011 when she was a member of the USA Women's Junior National Team that placed fourth at the FIVB Women's Junior World Championship in Peru.

As a student-athlete at Clemson, McKenney earned AVCA All-East Region and First-Team All-ACC honors as a senior in 2013 and graduated as one of just seven players in school history to eclipse 1,000 career kills and 1,000 digs. She played in 123 of 124 matches in her career, and appeared in all but five sets in four years, closing her career playing 396-consecutive sets. She also is a 10-time All-Tournament selection, which is tied for second in Tigers history. She also ranks eighth on the program's career list in attempts (3,891), 12th in kills (1,376) and 15th in digs (1,086) and put up 338 total blocks and 66 service aces.

In her final collegiate campaign, she achieved one of the most prolific offensive seasons in Clemson history, finishing with an ACC-leading 549 kills, a 4.46 kills/set average, and 599.5 points scored. She also set an ACC record with 24 kills in a three-set win against Notre Dame. No ACC player in the 25-point era has ever had more kills in a three-set match.
