Roderick McKenney joined the ORU Athletics staff in June 2020 as a graduate assistant with the sports performance office and primarily will work with the Golden Eagles volleyball program.
 
In 2016, McKenney founded Greatly Prepared Athletes LLC, a personal training company that he has run for the last five years with his wife, Moneshia. With GPA, he designed customized, intensive and elite athletic training programs for growth in physical endurance and adjusted plans for goal achievement. He also conducted skill and technique training that are position specific for multiple sports and implemented training for strength, speed and agility.
 
From 2014 to 2019, he was a volleyball club personal performance trainer and assistant coach with AEVC, MOVA and ECJVC. With a passion for coaching youth volleyball, McKenney was named Assistant Volleyball Coach of the Year in 2015.
 
McKenney also has worked as a varsity high school football coach and a strength and conditioning coach at the prep level for more than eight years, while mentoring local youth through City Streets 2 Student-Athletes. As a mentor, he helped student-athletes enhance performance with a focus on becoming productive members of society and a balance between academics and athletics.
 
He played collegiate football at Kent State before finishing his playing career at Clark Atlanta. McKenney earned a bachelor's degree in mass media arts (radio, television and film) from Clark Atlanta University in 2010.
