LINCOLN, Neb. Senior guard Mariana
Camargo (Blumenau, Brazil) scored 19 points in the second half
of action, but it wasn't enough to push the Golden Eagles past
Nebraska, as they fell, 51-70, Tuesday evening.
The Huskers
snapped an ORU five-game winning streak, as the Golden Eagles are
now 5-2 overall. NU improves to 6-1 overall and now holds a 4-0
advantage in the all-time series.
Junior forward Janae
Voelker (Newton, Kan.) posted her fourth-straight double-double
this season, as she posted a career-high 17 rebounds and scored 16
points. Camargo scored 19 points and added nine rebounds, while
freshman guard Georgia
Jones (Manchester, England) scored seven points.
The NU defense forced 25 ORU turnovers, which allowed the Huskers
to score 23 points and Nebraska's Cory Montgomery posted her second
double-double this season with 20 points and 11 rebounds.
ORU opened with a 5-0 lead in the first three minutes of action,
as Jones hit a three-pointer at 18:13 and Voelker snagged a jumper

up at 5-all with 16:31 remaining and then took the lead on jumper
from Dominique Kelley at 15:52. The Golden Eagles came back to
within one point, 10-11, at 12:39 after a freshman forward Cristal
Turner (Maidstone, England) three-pointer, as ORU kept to
within 10 points until the end of the half when NU took a 28-17
lead heading into the break.
Nebraska came out in the second half on fire, as the Huskers took a
10-2 run in the first four minutes. Camargo busted out in the
second with five points in three minutes to cut into the lead,
24-39, at 13:42, while NU took a commanding 53-32 lead with 9:32
remaining. Four more points from Camargo would put ORU trailing,
36-53, with 8:43 to go but the Golden Eagles wouldn't get any
closer the rest of the game.
ORU shot 37.7 percent (20-53) from the field, including 25.0
percent (4-16) from three-point range and 63.6 percent (7-11) from
the free throw line.
The Golden Eagles out-rebounded the Huskers, 45-38, but turnovers
was the difference maker as ORU committed 25 to NU's nine.
NU shot 36.2 percent (25-69) from the field, including 27.8 percent
(5-18) from the behind the arc and 78.9 percent (15-19) from the
charity stripe.
