ORU Falls to UNLV in Double Overtime, 2-1

LAS VEGAS – Oral Roberts University men's soccer team fell in the 106th minute by a score of 2-1 to UNLV on Sunday night at the UNLV Nike Invitational. With the loss, the Golden Eagles dropped to 1-4 overall, while the Rebels improved to 4-2 on the season.

ORU got on the board first at the 13:21 mark after senior Jordan Tatum (Grapevine, Texas) headed in a cross from Taylor Cluff (Plano, Texas). The goal was Tatum's second of the season and ninth of his career.

The Golden Eagles would hold the lead until the 85th minute, when UNLV's Lamar Neagle headed in a header from teammate Andrew Friel to force overtime.

UNLV's Daniel Cruz tallied his fourth goal of the season off an assist from Ben Haugland from the middle of the box in the 106th minute of the second overtime to give the Rebels the victory.

Junior goalkeeper Irving Peralta (Tulsa, Okla.) got his first start of the season, posting four saves and allowing only one goal in 90 minutes of action, while Andrew Techanchuk (Tulsa, Okla.) recorded two saves in the two overtime periods.

The Rebels outshot ORU by a 25-9 margin.

The Golden Eagles will return to action against Drake on Sept. 26 at the ORU Soccer Complex.
