TULSA, Okla.-The Golden Eagles explode
for three second half goals to rally past Valparaiso and clinch a
3-2 victory on Sunday afternoon.
The Golden Eagles (4-7-0) fell behind 2-0
early in the second half, but behind hot-footed senior Jarrett
Hamilton's two goals, the tide quickly turned and ORU captured
their second road victory of the year. Hamilton's goals came in the
64th minute to cut the lead to 2-1, and then in the
85th minute, which would prove to be the game winner.
Both goals were assisted by junior Aaron Birk, who leads the team
with four assists. Freshman keeper Nick Petolick picked up the win;
recording five saves and giving up two goals.
The Crusaders (5-5-2) couldn't capitalize
on goals by freshman Gerardo Avelar in the 39th minute
and senior Stefan Antonijevic in the 58th minute. Valpo
lost the lead when a shot by Birk flying wide was deflected into
the net by a Crusader defender for the own goal, making the score
2-2. Senior keeper Kyle Zobeck had just a single save for the
Crusaders and gave up three goals.
The Golden Eagles return home to face
Drake on October 15, at 3 p.m.
