But North Texas came ready for a fight, and they would surge in front after Luper was whistled for her third personal foul at the 7:37 mark. The Mean Green went on a 9-3 run after the call and took a 30-24 lead on a Braylah Blakely basket with 3:24 on the clock. The home team carried a 34-28 lead into the halftime break.

A three-pointer by McCoy early in the 2nd half gave the Mean Green a 39-32 lead with 15:10 on the clock, but the seven-point deficit awakened the All-American Luper. The reigning Summit League Player of the Week scored ORU's next seven points, part of a 16-3 run that gave ORU a 48-42 lead with 11:13 on the clock.
The run wasn't over for ORU, as the Golden Eagles would get four straight free throws from Bigham midway through the half to take a 52-44 lead.
Later more free throws from Luper would send the lead to double-digits, and ORU took their largest lead, at 60-46, with 5:55 to play. The lead would remain in double-figures for the remainder of the game, and ORU would move to 3-0 on the season.
Luper fouled with 2:04 left in the game, and Buck was whistled for her fifth foul at the 1:05 mark, but both disqualifications came with the game already in hand for the Golden Eagles.
ORU is now 7-3 all-time against North Texas, and 2-1 in the Jerry Finkbeiner Era.
The Golden Eagles will be in search of their fourth straight win on Saturday, when they return to the Mabee Center to host Louisiana Tech. Tip-off between ORU and the three-time National Champions is set for 2:05 pm CT.
