Oral Roberts University dropped another tight affair on Saturday
morning as they were beaten by Texas-Pan American, 4-3. ORU is now
0-4 on the season.
The Broncs (1-2) won the day's first point by taking two of three
doubles points. Fabian
Zierleyn and Jason
Mechali lost the top court to Sebastien Job and Alejandro
Sanoja, 6-3, while Braxton
Bates and Michael
Sosnowski were 6-2 losers to Chetan Panditi and Juan Cruz Soria
on the third court.
ORU won three of six singles courts, but it was not enough. Cruz
Soria edged Amar
Saletovic in the top flight in what proved to be the clinching
point, 5-6, 6-4, 6-0, while Zierleyn knocked off Job when the UTPA
player retired in the third set. Panditi took down Mechali on court
three, 6-1, 6-2, while Parker
Allen whipped Mauricio Fosado in the fourth flight, 6-2,
6-2.
Sosnowski earned a win for ORU on court five, 6-4, 6-5, over
Ricardo Hopker, while Sanoja took down Cole
Guy in the sixth flight, 6-2, 6-5.
The Golden Eagles will stay in Edinburg and play Prairie View
A&M tomorrow. First serve is scheduled for 1 pm CT.
