Oral Roberts University wrapped up the weekend with their first
victory of the season, a 5-2 win over Prairie View A&M on
Sunday afternoon. Mark
Milner's team is now 1-4 for the year.
The Golden Eagles got the day started right by winning the doubles
point. Fabian
Zierleyn and Jason
Mechali defeated Prairie View's Jackson Varney and Daniel
Vasquez on the top court, while Amar
Saletovic and Parker
Allen defeated Bruno Snyder and Rasaki Gbadamosi in the second
flight. Both scores were 6-3 in ORU's favor.
Prairie View earned their two points by winning two of the first
three singles points. Varney knocked off Saletovic in the featured
match, 6-3, 6-2, while Vasquez was a 6-4, 6-0 winner over Mechali
on court three. Zierleyn stabilized the upper half of the draw with
a 6-2, 6-1 win over Snyder on court two.
The Golden Eagles clinched the match by winning the final three
singles flights. Allen dominated Gbadamosi in the fourth flight,
6-1, 6-3, and Michael
Sosnowski hammered David Aldaz on court five, 6-0, 6-0. The
final court went to Cole
Guy, 6-2, 6-2, over Carlos McIntyre.
ORU returns to Tulsa on Saturday, February 8, when they host
Seminole State. Match time at The Club at Indian Springs is
scheduled for 3 pm CT.
