WICHITA, Kan. -
Oral Roberts University fought hard but could not overcome
Wichita State on Saturday afternoon as they fell to the Shockers,
4-0. ORU is now 1-6 on the season.
Wichita State (6-5) started the day by winning the two completed
pairs matches. Tomislav Gregurovic and Tin Ostojic beat Fabian
Zierleyn and Jason
Mechali, 8-4, while Ilija Cuic and Ibian Hodgson dropped Jack
Busby and Michael
Sosnowski, 8-1.
In the singles competition, WSU won all three completed matches.
Cuic took down Zierleyn on the top court, 6-3, 6-4, while Ostojic
won the second flight over Amar
Saletovic, 6-3, 6-0. In the fifth flight, the Shockers clinched
the victory with Hodgson's 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 win over Sosnowski.
With WSU's victory in hand, the remaining three singles matches
were halted in progress.
The Golden Eagles return to action on March 1, when they travel to
Omaha, Neb., for a match against Creighton.
