OMAHA, Neb. – The Oral Roberts University men's tennis finished the regular season on a high note winning their third straight with a 7-0 blanking at Omaha Saturday at the Miracle Hill Tennis Center.
The Golden Eagles finished above the .500 mark at 11-10 overall and 3-3 in league play for the first time since 2009 when ORU went 8-7 overall and 6-0 in the Summit League. It was the fifth shutout this season for ORU and second straight as well.
ORU swept through three tough doubles matches before the bottom of the Golden Eagles' order finished off the Mavericks.
Match Recap
- Alejandro Capdequi won his fourth straight match with a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles over Erik Anderson. Capdequi finished the regular season 10-6 overall and 3-2 in league play singles matches.
- Jan Pehnec was able to win his third straight match at No. 3 singles with at 6-2, 6-3 victory. Pehnec claimed his team leading 13th win of the year and went 4-2 in Summit League singles.
- Braxton Bates earned his first win at No. 1 singles this season 7-5, 6-1 to improve to 4-1 on the year. Bates was also 2-0 in league play during singles action.
- Bates and Michael Sosnowski won their ninth straight doubles match at the No. 3 position. The duo won 8-6 and improved to 9-3 on the year.
