FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Oral Roberts men's tennis team saw its season come to an end Saturday morning as regular season league champion Denver shutout the Golden Eagles, 4-0, in the Summit League Championship Semifinals.
The Golden Eagles finish the season 12-11 and above the .500 mark for the first time since 2009 when ORU went 8-7. It was also the first time since 2010 the Golden Eagles won their opening round match in the conference tournament.
ORU pushed regular season champ Denver during doubles action before the Pioneers edged an 8-5 win at the No. 3 position.
In singles action however, the Pioneers were dominate at the top of the lineup as a win at No. 1 singles from Henry Craig over Amar Saletovic, 6-2, 6-3 finished the match.
Match Recap
- Saletovic had a two match winning streak snapped with his loss at No.1 singles. He finished the season 12-8 overall and 10-8 at the No. 1 position.
- Alejandro Capdequi fell at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-1, to Diogo Rocha. Capdequi finished the year in singles at 10-8.
- Michael Sosnowski and Braxton Bates were handed a loss at No. 3 doubles for the first time in 10 matches as their win streak came to an end with an 8-5 loss. Sosnowski and Bates finished the year 10-4 in doubles.
- Jan Pehnec and Alejandro Capdequi were tied 5-5 before the final doubles point was won by Denver.
