GRAND FORKS, N.D. – In a must-win situation, the Oral Roberts volleyball team took down North Dakota in a four-set victory (25-16, 25-23, 16-25, 25-22) Friday night at the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center. The team's four seniors combined for 45 of its 62 total kills getting 18 from CeCe Madison and 13 via Bri Greenlee.

The Golden Eagles got out to a fast start leading, 6-1, before the Fighting Hawks came back to even the opening set, 6-6, and again, 9-9. Back-to-back kills by Greenlee helped ORU to a 4-0 run and went on to close out the set one victory, 25-16.

Greenlee came up clutch again late in the second stanza as the Golden Eagles rallied back from a 21-18 deficit to take a 2-0 set lead on a 7-2 stretch as the senior had a pair of kills around a Madison swing. UND started strong in set three and never gave up the lead to remain in the match on its home court winning, 25-16.

Three kills from senior Taylan Nero sparked a 5-0 run in the fourth as ORU broke a 5-5 tie and never looked back. The advantage swelled to seven points as the Golden Eagles were in command until UND erased five-straight match points to stay alive before Madison secured the road win, 25-22.

Inside the Box Score

  • Greenlee matched her career high totaling 13 kills on 26 swings hitting an impressive .423 in the contest. The senior added a team-best two solo blocks and three block assists.
  • Sylvia Lawson put together another double-double performance as the redshirt freshman tallied a 47-assist, 10-dig night, while adding six kills and three block assists to complete the all-around effort.
  • Madison led the ORU offense putting down 18 kills and registered 19 digs as she reached a double-double for the 19th time this season.
  • Sarah Thiessen delivered for the Golden Eagles defensively coming up with 25 digs, the ninth time this year she has recorded 20 or more.
  • Inka Inkret and Katarina Mikulic chipped in nine kills each helping the team hit .230 in the match.
  • A loss to the Fighting Hawks would have eliminated ORU from postseason contention outright.
