The Basics
Score: Oral Roberts 2 – No. 21 DBU 3
Records:
ORU (5-8, 0-0 SL) – DBU (9-4, 0-0 MVC)
Location:
Dallas, Texas (Horner Ballpark)

DALLAS, Texas – Jordan Wiley gave the Oral Roberts baseball team a 2-1 lead in the sixth inning on a two-run home run, but No. 21 DBU rallied and scored the winning run in the bottom of the ninth for a 3-2 decision Friday night at Horner Ballpark.

Trailing 1-0 in the sixth, Wiley crushed the first pitch he saw with two outs and Jake McMurray on first base staking the Golden Eagles a 2-1 advantage on the road.

The Patriots responded by scoring an unearned run in the bottom half of the inning to tie the game, 2-2, and neither team could break through until the ninth. DBU threatened in the seventh hitting three singles to load the bases with one out before Sam Rainwater stopped the frame by retiring the next two batters.

Anthony Martinez reached base on a walk in the eighth and Tanner Lindsly had a two-out single in the ninth, but ORU could not scratch the go-ahead run. The Patriots were able to get back-to-back walks opening the bottom of the ninth and eventually scored the winning run on a two-out single for a 3-2 victory.

Turning Point

A pair of walks to open the ninth came back to haunt the Golden Eagles, despite turning a double play in the frame and nearly closing out the inning. DBU was able to pull a walk-off single down the left-field line securing the home win.
