#ORUWBB Wins Game Two at Denver

THE BASICS
Score: Oral Roberts 79 – Denver 78

DENVER – Tierney Coleman hits the game winner to lift the Oral Roberts women's basketball team past Denver, 79-78, in game two of the series Saturday afternoon in the Mile High City.
 
ORU got off to a 6-0 start in the game and extended the run to 8-2. Ariel Walker hit the team's first three-point bucket and after a pair of free-throws by Gem Summers, the Golden Eagles led 13-4 early. ORU shot 50 percent from the field in the first quarter and led 23-20 that was sparked by a pair for three's by Walker.
 
Camryn Hill and Summers gave the Golden Eagles a spark in the second as each player hit a three-point bucket and extended ORU's lead back to nine. Summers was the first ORU play to double-digits with 10 first half points. ORU led by as much as 10 in the first 20 minutes. Denver cut the lead to three as the halftime score was 44-41 in favor of the Golden Eagles. Both teams shot 42 percent from the field.
 
Denver took a three-point lead with 3:45 to go in the third when the Pioneers went on a 6-0 run that was extended to 8-0. Keni Jo Lippe put ORU back on the positive side with an and-one connection with two minutes left in the third. The Golden Eagles went on a 12-0 run to close out the third and held the Pioneers scoreless for the last three-plus minutes of the quarter and led 63-56.
 
ORU continued its run to 15-2 with a three-point bucket by Tyaija Coleman. Denver came back to pull within four with seven minutes to play. The Pioneers sparked a 5-0 run to pull to within three with three minutes left in the game. Denver took a one point lead with a minute to play after three free-throws by Claire Gritt. Addisyn Moore put ORU back on top by one with 50 seconds to play. Gritt put Denver up by one with 30 seconds left. Tierney Coleman hit the game winning eight foot jumper with 18 seconds remaining to lift ORU past Denver, 79-78.
 
THE LEADERS
Oral RobertsKeni Jo Lippe led the team with 15 points and Tierney Coleman grabbed seven rebounds.
Denver: Emily Counsel recorded 26 points while Jasmine Jeffcoat grabbed nine rebounds.    
                                                                                                                                                  
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- ORU shot 44.3 percent overall in tonight's game.
- ORU was out-rebounded by DU, 41-29.
