TULSA, Okla. – The Oral Roberts women's basketball team had four score in double-digits against Little Rock Sunday afternoon in 74-56 win to close out the ORU Thanksgiving Classic at the Mabee Center.
It was a slow start offensively Saturday for ORU. Two pairs of free-throws by
Katie Scott got ORU on the board first, but Little Rock went on an 8-0 run to take an early lead. The first nine ORU points came from the charity stripe, until
Faith Paramore hit the first bucket with just under five minutes left in the opening period. Although the Golden Eagles went 2-for-11 from the field, the team went 11-for-13 from the free-throw line to only trail by two after 10 minutes.
A 6-0 run started the second quarter as the ORU defense held Little Rock to nine points in the second and the offense shot 54 percent. The Golden Eagles led 30-26 at the half. The offense kept rolling in the second half as ORU shot 57 percent in the third and 62 percent in the fourth scoring 44 points. The Golden Eagles took their largest lead of the game by 22 with 8:11 left in the game. ORU scored 20-plus points in each quarter of the second half.
Along with Scott,
Hannah Cooper,
Keni Jo Lippe and
Tirzah Moore all scored in double-digits. Scott got the game going with four free-throws as she went on to go a perfect 7-for-7 from the line. Moore had a productive day going 6-for-9 overall for 13 points to give herself a double-digit scoring effort in back-to-back games. Defensively, the Golden Eagles gave up 56 points, the fewest this season, and held its opponent to two single digit quarters with nine points in the second and third periods.
