TULSA, Okla. – After holding a lead at the end of the first quarter, the Oral Roberts women's basketball team suffered a 82-60 loss to the No. 23 South Dakota State Jackrabbits Saturday afternoon at the Mabee Center.
The Golden Eagles shot well early going 50 percent from the field in the first five minutes. ORU held a small three-point lead on the No. 23 Jackrabbits for three-plus minutes. The Golden Eagles then went up by five with two minutes left in the opening quarter. ORU held the lead through the end of the first, 14-11, and shot 58 percent from the field with
Addisyn Moore leading the charge with six.
An 8-0 run in the second gave South Dakota State a five-point lead.
Keni Jo Lippe broke the run with her first three-point bucket of the day to bring ORU back to within two.
Faith Paramore hit a three-point bucket to regain the lead with 5:29 left in the half. The Jacks sparked a 15-0 run to go up by 14 two minutes later. The run was then extended to 22-5 to close out the first half. South Dakota State went 11-for-11 from the field in the second and 7-for-7 from three-point range as the Jacks went into halftime with a 43-27 lead.
ORU was out-scored 17-15 in the third despite shooting 41.7 percent from the field. After trailing by as much as 23, ORU came to within 16. Down the stretch into the fourth, the Jacks took their largest lead of the game by 24 with 1:20 to go. The Golden Eagles fell 82-60 to the No. 23 team in the nation despite having three double-digit scorers.
THE LEADERS
Oral Roberts:
Tierney Coleman led the way with 19 points and five rebounds.
Keni Jo Lippe also had five rebounds on the day.
South Dakota State: Myah Selland recorded 18 points and was one of three Jackrabbits to have seven rebounds.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
