OPENING SERVE
•ORU returns home following its season-long, four-match road stretch and is back on the court for the first time since Feb. 15 after having its bye week.
•Libero
Sarah Thiessen and outside hitter
Aixa Vigil were named Summit League Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week Feb. 9 for their efforts leading the Golden Eagles to two road wins over the Leathernecks.
•Despite not playing last week, Thiessen still ranks second in the league totaling 164 digs and reached double figures in every outing, including four, 20+ dig efforts with a career-best 36 Feb. 8. Her 36 digs is the most by anyone in the conference this season and is 13th in the nation.
•The Golden Eagles have three players with at least 80 kills on the year led by
Kaia Dunford's 102 along with
Aixa Vigil (89) and
Jaxie Wakley (84). ORU is the only league school with two players in the top seven of kills per set as Vigil is sixth (3.2) and Dunford ranks seventh (3.0).
•Vigil has posted a double-double in five of six matches played and reached double-digit kills in every outing.
•Wakley excels at the net posting 35 total blocks and is one of six players in the league averaging a block per set.
•ORU features the setting duo of
Bryanne Soares (6.7 assists per set) and
Sylvia Lawson (5.1 assists per set). Soares had a 54-assist outing at WIU and is one of only three league players with at least 50 assists in a match.
•DU has won its last four matches and in second place in the standings. The Pioneers are among the nation's elite in aces per set (2.2) and hitting percentage (.279) ranking in the NCAA's top 20 of each category at 11th and 19th, respectively. The offense has six players recording at least two kills per set with Lorrin Poulter and Lydia Bartalo totaling 51 kills each to lead the team, while libero Macy Carrabine has posted 4.32 digs per set defensively.
•ORU was predicted to finish seventh in The Summit League standings following a quarterfinal exit at last year's conference championships.
•Head Coach
Frank Craig III added six players in his first recruiting class with the Golden Eagles as four freshmen and two junior college transfers joined the program.
Kaia Dunford (Waimanalo, Hawaii),
Chloe Salcedo (Garland, Texas),
