ORU Falls Late to SDSU

BROOKINGS, S.D. –  On Friday afternoon, the Oral Roberts baseball team saw their eight-game winning streak snapped in Brookings, South Dakota by a score of 4-3.

The game was delayed by 1:45 due to lightning in and around Brookings. The Golden Eagles got on the scoreboard first in the third inning when Alec Jones roped a bases-clearing triple to score three.

South Dakota State responded with a three-run home run in the fourth inning to even the score. Following the long ball, Hunter Swift settled in on the mound and spun a career-best nine strikeouts.

The two teams would remain scoreless until the bottom of the ninth inning when the Jackrabbits lifted a walk-off sacrifice fly to right field.
 
Turning Point
ORU left several scoring opportunities on the board throughout the afternoon and were unable to come up with a timely hit. The Golden Eagles either left runners on or bounced into a double play to end all nine innings in the contest.
