TULSA, Okla. – Despite a second straight double-double from Tirzah Moore, the Oral Roberts women's basketball team dropped their fifth straight contest Sunday afternoon as they fell to Tulsa, 92-77, inside the Reynolds Center.
 
Moore poured in 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting and pulled down 11 rebounds for her second straight and sixth career double-double. Delaney Nix registered a team-best 21 points, marking a new Golden Eagle career-high for the senior. In the contest, the Tahlequah, Oklahoma, native knocked down six three-pointers in 10 attempts.
 
Ruthie Udoumoh rounded out the double-figure scorers for the Golden Eagles as the junior finished with 15 points to go along with six rebounds.
 
Tulsa raced out to a 9-0 start in the opening quarter, forcing an ORU timeout at the 8:17 mark. Out of the stoppage, Udoumoh put the Golden Eagles on the board with a jumper and Nix followed with a three to cut the deficit to four, 9-5, with 7:34 remaining in the period. ORU got as close as three, 19-16, following a layup from Talia Pogi at the 2:14 mark but TU followed with a three to take a 22-16 lead into the second.
 
Udoumoh netted the first basket of the second period but the Golden Hurricane responded with the next five points to push their lead back to nine, 27-18, as 8:51 showed on the clock. The Golden Eagles drew within eight, 38-30, at the 4:30 mark but Tulsa followed with a 9-2 stretch to take their largest lead of the half, 47-32, with 1:04 left on the clock. ORU answered with a 5-0 run to trim the deficit to 10, 47-37, but TU scored the final basket of the half to take a 49-37 advantage into the break.
 
After the two sides traded the first six points of the second half, Tulsa pushed their advantage to 17, 57-40, following a 5-0 stretch at the 7:56 mark. The Golden Hurricane kept the Golden Eagles at arm's length for the rest of the quarter as they outscored ORU 21-17.
 
In the fourth, Tulsa's lead grew to 21, 80-59, their largest of the game, behind a 5-0 run before a fastbreak layup from Moore stopped the surge with 7:03 left in the contest. A Udoumoh triple at the 5:25 mark capped off a 9-2 run by ORU that drew them to within 14, 82-68. Following a pair of free throws by the Golden Hurricane, Nix bookended a 5-0 surge with her sixth three of the day to pull the Golden Eagles to within 11, 84-73, as 3:38 remained in the game. Tulsa answered with eight of the final 12 points to come away with a 92-77 victory in the battle for the Mayor's Cup.

THE LEADERS
Oral Roberts: Three Golden Eagles reached double-figures on the day led by Nix's 21, which was an ORU career-high for the senior.

Tulsa: Temira Poindexter led the Golden Hurricane with a game-high 22 points to go along with eight rebounds and three assists.
                                                                                                                                                 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- In the contest, the Golden Eagles shot 43.3 percent from the field. 
- ORU knocked down 8-of-22 threes.
- Cooper dished out a team-best five assists on the day. 
- Ariel Walker contributed seven points and six rebounds in the game.
- Off the bench, Talia Pogi added seven points.

GAME NOTES
- Despite the loss, the Golden Eagles still lead the all-time series against Tulsa, 33-12. 
- As the road team, ORU is now 15-7 in the series.
- Nix's double-digit performance was her first of the season.
- Moore's double-double was her third of the season and fifth of her career.
