#ORUWBB Battles Past Abilene Christian, 87-81

TULSA, Okla. – Hannah Cooper and Tirzah Moore registered 20-plus points each to lead the Oral Roberts women's basketball team past Abilene Christian, 87-81, Sunday afternoon in a hard-fought contest inside the Mabee Center.

Cooper, who played all 40 minutes, poured in a game-high tying 26 points on 9-of-13 shooting and led all players with nine assists. The senior also pulled down five rebounds, totaled four steals and registered a block in the victory. Moore recorded 21 points on a perfect 7-of-7 shooting and hauled in a game-best eight boards. The Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, native also collected a game-best three blocks, dished out three assists and registered two steals.

Ariel Walker and Lauren Ramey rounded out the double-figure scorers for the Golden Eagles with 17 and 12, respectively. For Ramey, the double-digit performance was the first of her Golden Eagle career as the Kiefer, Oklahoma, native finished the contest 4-for-5 from three-point range. 

The Golden Eagles opened their largest lead of the contest, 15-7, at the 6:20 mark of the first quarter behind a 12-2 run that was sparked by a Cooper and-one. During the stretch, Cooper either made or assisted on all five baskets. ACU answered with a 12-0 run as they jumped back in front, 19-15, with 3:12 remaining in the period. Cooper broke the run with a layup and netted the final three baskets of the quarter for ORU as they trailed the Wildcats, 25-21, after the opening period.

The first bucket of the second quarter went the way of ACU, giving the Wildcats their largest lead of the contest, 27-21, at the 9:07 mark. ORU totaled eight of the next 12 points as they reclaimed the lead, 31-29, on Ramey's second triple of the contest with 6:21 left until halftime. ACU responded with an 8-2 stretch to open a four-point lead, 37-33, as 4:07 remained on the clock. Despite outscoring ACU 11-10 over the final four minutes, the Golden Eagles trailed the Wildcats, 47-44, at the break. 

Behind a 7-2 run to open the second half, ORU reclaimed the lead, 51-49, on a Walker three at the 6:26 mark. ACU fired back with five of the next seven points as they jumped back in front, 54-53, at the under-five media timeout. Out of the stoppage, the lead changed hands for the 10th and final time as Delaney Nix knocked down a triple from the left wing to put ORU back in front for good, 56-54, with 4:38 remaining in the third. The Golden Eagles outscored ACU 8-6 over the final 4:38 to take a 64-60 lead into the fourth.

A 5-0 surge by the Wildcats evened the score,73-73, for the ninth time and final time at the 4:22 mark. Following an ACU timeout, the Golden Eagles answered with a 7-0 run to open an 80-73 advantage with 2:18 left in the contest. An and-one finish from Moore sparked the ORU surge and a pair of makes at the line by Walker capped it off. After a split at the foul line by ACU put an end to the run, the Golden Eagles netted seven of their final eight foul shots to close out the 87-81 victory.

THE LEADERS
Oral Roberts: Four Golden Eagles reached double-figures led by Cooper's game-high tying 26 points. The senior also dished out a game-best nine assists and played all 40 minutes.

- Cooper led ORU in scoring for the fifth time this season and made her 20th consecutive start.
- The senior registered 20-plus points for the fourth time this season.
- Moore poured in 20-plus points for the eighth time in her career in the win.
- The sophomore topped ORU in rebounding for the ninth time this season.
