KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Despite its second half comeback, the Oral Roberts women's basketball team fell to the Kansas City Roos, 69-63, Saturday afternoon in Kansas City, Missouri.
ORU had three score in double-digits Saturday afternoon.
Tirzah Moore led the Golden Eagles with 18 points going 8-for-13 from the field.
Keni Jo Lippe finished the day with 15 and
Katie Scott ha 10.
The Golden Eagles started the game with a bucket by
Tirzah Moore to earn an early lead. After tying the game three times, Kansas City went on a 7-0 run to close out the first 10 minutes. The Roos continued to shoot well in the second quarter and out-scored ORU, 22-12. In the final four minutes of the first half, KC went on a 14-3 run to take a 39-22 advantage into the locker room. Kansas City shot 67 percent from the field in the first 20 minutes of play.
Despite the 17 point deficit, ORU went on a 9-2 run to start the second half to pull to within eight with 6:34 remaining. Lippe knocked down a three-pointer to pull the team to within six with 2:09 to go and Scott hit a pair of free-throws to make it a five point game at the end of the third. The Golden Eagles went 8-for-11 from the field and out-scored Kansas City, 24-12 in the third frame. The Roos managed to go back up by 12 after three-consecutive three-pointers to start the fourth. With 3:16 to play, Lippe capped off an 11-0 ORU run to make it a one point game. However, down the stretch, Kansas City was able to pull away with a 69-63 victory to split the regular season.
Kansas City had five scored in double-digits. Kiara Bradley shot 7-for-14 from the field to lead the Roos with 19 points. Naomie Alnatas, the league's leading scorer, had 11 points and nine assists.
