#ORUWBB Dominates in Road Win

MACOMB, Ill. – Kicking off a Summit League swing, the Oral Roberts women's basketball team notched a convincing 16-point road win over Western Illinois, 71-55. Tirzah Moore, Katie Scott, and Keni Jo Lippe each finished with at least 13 points in the Golden Eagle victory.
 
The Golden Eagles made changes to their starting lineup, giving Nena Taylor her first career start for the gold and blue. Western Illinois opened with a 5-0 lead before Scott got the Golden Eagles on the board with a layup. Later in the frame, ORU went on a 5-0 run behind baskets from Ariel Walker and Trinity Moore to tie the game at 12. The Leathernecks quickly responded with a 10-0 run before Lippe knocked down a three-pointer to stop the bleeding. As time expired in the first quarter, Scott knocked down a triple to cut ORU's deficit to six.
 
In the early minutes of the second quarter, ORU continued to chip away at the Leatherneck lead. With 6:05 to play, Delaney Nix knocked down a three-pointer from the right corner to bring ORU within on. Over the final 4:27 of the first half, ORU went on a 10-2 run with Walker, Nix, Lippe, Scott, and Trinity Moore all adding a pair of points. As time expired, Scott tipped in a shot for her second buzzer-beater of the first half.
 
To open the second half, ORU rattled off 10 straight points, not allowing Western Illinois until the 6:03 mark. Over a 3:52 stretch late in the third quarter, the Golden Eagles went on an 11-0 run, led by six points from Tirzah Moore. After the third quarter, ORU held a 15 point lead, 60-45.
 
In the fourth quarter, Scott pulled down her 10th rebound of the game to tally her first double-double in an ORU uniform. Scott finished with 10 boards and 16 points. Lippe and Scott did all the scoring for the Golden Eagles in the final frame, combining for 11 points.
 
THE LEADERS
Oral Roberts: Katie Scott's first double-double as a Golden Eagle led the way for ORU. Scott finished with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Keni Jo Lippe poured in a game-high 20 points while Hannah Cooper added a game-high five assists.
Western Illinois:  18 points from Elizabeth Lutz led all scorers for Western Illinois. Evan Zars led the rebounding efforts with nine boards for the Leathernecks.
