MACOMB, Ill. – Isaac Coffey registered his fourth career shutout and the Oral Roberts baseball team picked up their 20th win of the season as they run-ruled Western Illinois, 12-0, in game one of Saturday's doubleheader from Alfred D. Boyer Stadium in Macomb, Illinois.

The Golden Eagles exploded for six runs in the first inning and never looked back as ORU scored in five of the seven frames.

Coffey threw seven clean innings, allowed only two hits and struck out a season-high eight batters en route to his fourth career shutout and third win of 2022. The junior faced only one batter over the minimum in the victory. Coffey's last shutout came on May 1, 2021, against South Dakota State.

Two Leatherneck errors led to the game's first runs as ORU jumped out to a 3-0 advantage with nobody out in the first.
Joshua Cox plated the fourth Golden Eagle run with an RBI infield single and
Alec Jones later upped the lead to 5-0 with a sacrifice bunt that scored
Jackson Loftin.
Connor Beichler capped off the frame with an RBI single to left, extending the lead to 6-0.

Mac McCroskey crossed the plate on a wild pitch in the second and Beichler scored
Holden Breeze on a sacrifice fly in the third to up the ORU advantage to 8-0.

An RBI double from Cox in the fifth plated Loftin, who led off the frame with a double to left, pushing the lead to 9-0. Breeze, who followed Loftin with a single, came around to score on a passed ball and Cox later crossed the plate on an RBI single from Beichler to extend the advantage to 11-0.

In the seventh, Cox launched a solo home run to right to make the final tally 12-0 in favor of ORU. The homer was the senior's second of the year.

MACOMB, Ill. – The Oral Roberts baseball team picked up the sweep over Summit League foe Western Illinois with a 4-3 victory in game two of Saturday's doubleheader from Alfred D. Boyer Stadium in Macomb, Illinois.

The win was the fourth straight for the Golden Eagles, who now sit in sole possession of first place in the Summit League.

With the score tied, 2-2, in the top of the fourth,
Brody Gibson put ORU back in front for good with a sacrifice bunt that plated
Holden Breeze.

On the mound,
Ledgend Smith improved to 5-2 on the season after allowing two runs, both unearned, over five innings of work and striking out eight. In relief,
Cade Denton logged his fourth save of the season after tossing 3.2 scoreless innings and punching out three batters.

The Golden Eagles struck first for the second straight game as
Joshua Cox scored
AJ Archambo with a sacrifice fly to right in the second inning.

Western Illinois quickly responded in the bottom half with two runs, both of which were unearned, to take the lead, 2-1.

In the fourth, ORU evened the score, 2-2, as Loftin crossed the plate courtesy of an error by the Leatherneck third baseman. Breeze, who reached on the error, came around to score two batters later on the sacrifice bunt by Gibson, putting the Golden Eagles back in front, 3-2.

ORUÂ added an insurance run in the sixth as Loftin crossed the plate on a double play with the bases loaded.

A bases-loaded walk in the bottom half of the sixth led to the final Leatherneck run of the contest as ORU went on to win 4-3.

Inside the Box Score
- Loftin and Breeze were the lone Golden Eagles to register a multi-hit performance.
- Loftin also crossed the plate a game-high two times and swiped his 14th bag of the year in the win.
- Archambo, Gibson and McCroskey each registered game-high two walks.
- Smith struck out at least eight batters for the fifth time this season
- Denton closed out the victory with a 3.2 inning save to go along with three strikeouts.
