DENVER – The ORU men's soccer team dropped its league opener Saturday evening at Denver, 1-0.

Despite the Pioneers getting three shots on goal in the first half, the ORU defense held strong and did not allow a goal. Goalkeeper Jeremy Coste made three first half saves as the defense overcame two Denver corner kicks.

The lone goal of the game came in the 52^nd minute by Denver's Oje Ofunrein. Ofunrein's second goal of the season was assisted by Ronan Wynne. The Golden Eagle offense was never able to get into a rhythm as ORU did not have a shot on goal in the match. Giovanni Herrera gave the Golden Eagles a chance in the 78^th minute with a shot, but was blocked by Denver and the Pioneers held on for the 1-0 victory.
