TULSA, Okla. – The Golden Eagles completed the season sweep over Omaha late Saturday afternoon in Nebraska.
The Mavericks were able to hold the Golden Eagles to one lone shot in the first half, but Luis Flores would make the most of it burying a free kick from long range to give the away side an early 1-0 lead.
Stellar defensive play from Schinieder Mimy and Tommy Lamb would nullify nine first half shots by Omaha and send ORU into the break with all the momentum.
In the second half, ORU remained poised to prevent an equalizer from the Mavericks but an early penalty kick awarded to the home team put that in jeopardy.
However two-time Summit League Peak Defender of the Week Joao Mesquita, rose to the occasion yet again to secure the win for the Golden Eagles and his fifth clean sheet of the campaign.Â
