TULSA, Okla. – The Golden Eagles dropped their second to last home match of the season to the Omaha Mavericks in three sets (20-25, 23-25, 20-25)
ORU opened the first set down 7-3 and with work to do. Despite three
Hope Hickman kills, runs of 6-2 and 7-3 helped Omaha pull ahead later in the set. The Golden Eagles carded 12 total errors, resulting in a five point loss in set one.
Set two seemed to be all ORU, opening the set on a 5-1 scoring run. The Mavericks fought back and tied the match mid-set but ORU gave up a 7-2 run to close the set, sealing set two for Omaha. A .206 hitting percentage and four service errors couldn't overcome 17 kills and a 306 hitting percentage on the Mavericks end.
Once again, the Golden Eagles began the set strong, starting out with a 7-3 advantage. Shortly after, a 10-2 Mavericks run flipped the set on its head giving them a 13-9 advantage. Omaha scored six of the final nine points to seal the match.
