TULSA, Okla. – The Oral Roberts women's basketball team earned an emphatic home win over UTRGV on Monday night, defeating the Vaqueros 65-58 at the Mabee Center.

Jalei Oglesby scored 18 points off the bench, shooting 7-13 from the field while grabbing six boards. Ruthie Udoumoh commanded the Golden Eagles on both sides of the ball, recording her first double-double of the 2024-25 season. Udoumoh tallied 14 points on 6-10 shooting to go along with 14 boards and three steals.

A pull-up three pointer by Makyra Tramble and a layup a-piece from Taleyah Jones and Meghan Weinrich helped the Golden Eagles jump out to a 7-0 lead to open the game. The Vaqueros made a layup of their own before ORU sparked an 8-0 run to increase their lead to 13 (15-2). The Golden Eagles held steady for the final 4:30, holding the Vaqueros to just 3-14 shooting as they went into quarter two with a 24-10 advantage.

ORU saw struggles in the second quarter, as UTRGV held them to 3-17 shooting and just eight points in the ten minute period. A once sixteen point lead turned into an eight point lead after 20 minutes of action.

Eight points and three rebounds from Ruthie Udoumoh in the third helped ORU gain momentum coming out of the break, outrebounding the Vaqueros 15-9 in the quarter. A five point swing from Ruthie Udoumoh and a triple from Makyra Tramble sparked an 8-0 ORU run as they extended their lead to 15 with 4:46 left in the third (44-29). UTRGV outscored the Golden Eagles in the quarter (18-17) but three trips to the line limited the damage, as they went into the final 10 minutes up seven.

The fourth quarter was a back-and-forth battle between the two sides, with the Vaqueros cutting the lead to just four with 5:59 left in the game. Four points from Emily Robinson and layups from Taleyah Jones and Jalei Oglesby sparked another 8-0 scoring run. The Golden Eagles ran out the clock to pick up their second home victory this season, remaining undefeated at the Mabee Center.

UTRGV: Kade Hackerott logged a double-double, grabbing 10 rebounds and scoring 15 points. Seven of her 15 points came from the line, shooting 7-9 from the stripe.
