TULSA, Okla. – The Golden Eagles fell to the Fighting Hawks in three sets, recording their eighth loss of the season at home. (23-25, 23-25, 21-25).
ORU opened the first set strong, pulling ahead three points (7-4) behind three errors from the Fighting Hawks. Despite five
Trinity Freeman kills, runs of 5-1 and 6-1 helped UND pull ahead mid set. A late run from the Golden Eagles wasn't enough to overcome the Fighting Hawks in set one, falling 23-25.
Set two seemed to be all ORU, opening the set on an 8-0 scoring run. After extending their lead to 11-2, ORU collapsed giving up a 15-5 run, falling behind one (17-18). Four straight kills from the Fighting Hawks closed and secured set two for UND.
After trading points early, a 5-1 and 6-2 run helped the Golden Eagles push their lead to four (5-9). Up 20-17, ORU gave a up 9-1 run, to seal the game for the Fighting Hawks.
Match Notes
- Trinity Freeman led the Golden Eagles with 14 kills hitting .278% on the night. On the defensive end of the ball, Freeman carded three solo blocks and a dig.
- Hope Hickman and Anzley Rinard followed close behind Freeman, racking up seven and six digs, respectively.
- Rachel Resta logged 22 assists on the match, her 18th match leading ORU in assists.
- Middle blocker Kedron Burk had a stellar night at the net, matching Freeman's three solo blocks. Freeman and Burk's three solo blocks were both match-highs.
- Breanna Rivas' 10 digs led her to surpass the 1,000 digs mark in her final year with the Golden Eagles.
- ORU is three wins away from 1,000 wins as a program.
