TULSA, Okla. – The ORU women's basketball team secured their ninth win of the season and sixth at the Mabee Center, defeating the Wichita State Shockers, 77-65.

Ruthie Udoumoh and
Jalei Oglesby led the Golden Eagles' offensive efforts, recording 19 points each. Udoumoh shot 7-11 from the field and 5-6 from the stripe, racking up nine rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Oglesby shot 8-17 from the field, carding five rebounds, two assists and one steal.
Taleyah Jones wasn't far behind the duo, tallying 16 points and six rebounds of her own.

ORU kicked off the game in a tight contest with the Shockers. Back-to-back triples from
Emily Robinson and
Taleyah Jones helped the Golden Eagles stay in front of Wichita State to begin the game. Jones also hit a career milestone in the first, scoring her 1,000
th career point off a late layup. Jones' seven points in the quarter gave ORU a once 12-7 advantage but Wichita State wasn't far behind the Golden Eagles after one (19-15).
A slow second quarter from ORU allowed the Shockers to gain some momentum, outscoring the Golden Eagles 21-20 in the period. 11 points off four Wichita State turnovers seemed to keep ORU in check in the second, despite allowing a 9-0 run with 5:34 to play in the half. A 39-36 lead was maintained heading into the break.

Ruthie Udoumoh kicked off the second half with two straight baskets, followed by an
Emily Robinson three and a jumper from
Jalei Oglesby. After extending their lead to six over the first 6:17 of the third quarter, ORU went scoreless but held the Shockers to just two points in the final 2:50. The Golden Eagles only gave up 10 points in the quarter, limiting Wichita State to 5-13 shooting from the field 0-4 shooting from beyond the arc. A defensive quarter helped ORU grow their lead to eight (54-46) heading into the final quarter of action.
Eager to seal the deal, ORU used
Ruthie Udoumoh to their advantage, outrebounding the Shockers 9-6 in the fourth.
Gentry Baldwin hit a three to kick off the scoring for the Golden Eagles followed by six straight points from Udoumoh. ORU gained their largest lead of the game with 6:49 to play, up 14. Udoumoh scored 10 of the Golden Eagles' 23 points in the quarter, propelling them to their ninth win of the season heading into the Christmas break.
