ORU Athletics Announces Joe DeBerry as Senior Associate Athletic Director /Major Gifts

TULSA, Okla. — Oral Roberts University Athletics is excited to announce the hiring of Joe DeBerry as Senior Associate Athletic Director/Major Gifts. DeBerry joins ORU Athletics with a dynamic background in both professional sports and entrepreneurship, offering a wealth of experience and leadership to the Golden Eagles.

A former student-athlete at Clemson University, DeBerry left college to pursue a professional baseball career, being drafted in the 1991 Amateur Draft. Over his seven-year career, he competed in the minor league systems of the Cincinnati Reds, New York Yankees, and Kansas City Royals. His diverse post-baseball career includes several entrepreneurial ventures, such as co-founding an athletic apparel company and launching an international travel company focused on organizing baseball and soccer tournaments for youth teams in Beijing, China.

In 2003, DeBerry relocated to Tulsa, where he began his work in the University of Tulsa's athletic department, raising funds for the Golden Hurricane Club. His recent professional roles have included co-owning a Cartridge World franchise and co-founding Square One Compassion, a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving the Oakhurst, Oklahoma, community. DeBerry continues his commitment to community service as a member of the Board of Directors for both the Fisher DeBerry Foundation and Square One Compassion.

"His background as both a former athlete and a proven leader in Tulsa makes him a perfect fit for this role.
